1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Speed Reads (the "Service"), a web application available at speedreads.io, owned and operated by Jativaholdings.com ("we," "our," or "us").

By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old, have read and understood these Terms, and agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Speed Reads is a speed reading application that uses Rapid Serial Visual Presentation (RSVP) technology to help users read PDF documents faster. The Service includes:

• RSVP reading engine with adjustable speed and font size
• PDF upload and text extraction
• Reading progress tracking, statistics, and daily goals
• AI-generated comprehension quizzes and document summaries
• Optional cloud backup and cross-device sync for registered users
• Multilingual interface (English, Spanish, Portuguese)

3. User Accounts

You may use core features of Speed Reads without an account. Creating an account unlocks cloud backup, progress tracking, quizzes, and other features. When you register, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access at [email protected]

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Speed Reads only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Upload documents you do not have the right to use or distribute
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of any third party
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service without permission
• Circumvent security measures, rate limits, or access controls
• Upload malicious files, viruses, or harmful content
• Use the Service to harass, harm, or defraud others
• Resell or sublicense access to the Service

5. Your Documents and Content

5.1 Your Ownership

You retain full ownership of any documents you upload. By uploading a document, you grant Speed Reads a limited, non-exclusive license to process and display that document solely to provide the Service to you.

5.2 Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to upload and read any document through the Service. Do not upload copyrighted material you do not own or have a license to use.

5.3 Local vs. Cloud Storage

By default, documents are stored locally in your browser and are never transmitted to our servers. If you enable cloud backup, document content is encrypted and stored securely in your account. You can delete cloud-backed documents at any time from the app.

6. AI-Powered Features

Speed Reads offers AI-generated quizzes and summaries. When you use these features, relevant document text is sent to our server-side AI service to generate the output. By using these features, you confirm you have the right to process the document content in this manner. AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes and may not be perfectly accurate.

7. Intellectual Property

The Speed Reads application — including its design, code, features, branding, and content (excluding user-uploaded documents) — is owned by Jativaholdings.com and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our written permission.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times
• AI-generated quizzes and summaries will be accurate or complete
• Reading speed improvements will be the same for all users
• All PDF files will be successfully processed (scanned/image-based PDFs may not work)

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, JATIVAHOLDINGS.COM AND SPEED READS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or $10 USD if you have not made any payments).

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Jativaholdings.com, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your uploaded content, or your violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete your account from the dashboard settings. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or if required by law.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

12. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws applicable to Jativaholdings.com's jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, as applicable.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Speed Reads regarding the Service. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right.
